Purebred Nevada-Grown cattle known for their ability to be good producers.

About Hutchens Herefords

Lee Hutchens had a passion for cattle as a young man growing up in the 50's and 60's. The son of a logger, Hutchens learned about ranching and farming during the summers spent on his grandmother's farm in Dayton, Washington, which inspired him to join his local 4-H club.

Hutchens Herefords was started as a 4-H/FFA project in the early sixties and grew through Hutchens' high school life. Although Hutchens Herefords was idle for a number of years, Lee's desire to make his living in the cattle industry never changed, and he started Hutchens Herefords again in 1979. It has grown steadily since then.

Many years after careful planning and breeding has created the Hutchens Herefords of today: purebred Nevada-grown cattle known for their ability to be good producers.

Hutchens' focus on practical, efficient, quality cattle have brought many accolades to the ranch, located on Farm District Road in the Reese River Valley in Austin, Nevada. While many of his bulls are sold privately, Hutchens has marketed bulls in the Nevada Cattlemen's Bull Sale in Fallon and the Snyder Bull Sale in Yerington. His bulls are sought by both registered and commercial ranchers who are looking for conservative birth weights, growth and adequate milk production in their herds.
